The Springfield Youth Performance Group Foundation (SYPG) will present the children’s ballet The Snow Queen.

Performances are on 12 and 13 at 2 pm at SHG Auditorium, 1200 West Washington Street, Springfield.

SYPG artistic director Elizabeth Cheney has choreographed Hans Christian Anderson’s classic children’s story, The Snow Queen. The hour-long performance is suitable for all ages.

Journey to a small kingdom in a cold northern country far, far away, where two little princesses live. Watch as the older sister discovers her magical powers while the girls grow up. After losing their parents to a terrible storm at sea, the older sister, Kai, becomes the queen of their kingdom. Fairytale friends from near and far come to celebrate with the sisters.

More than 50 boys and girls, ages five to 18, from Springfield, Chatham, Rochester, Glenarm, Sherman, New Berlin, Athens, and Jacksonville performed.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for 13 and under. Tickets can be purchased at www.sypgfoundation.org

SYPG was founded in 2005 as a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the performing arts. Its mission is to encourage and cultivate the artistically talented youth in our community by allowing them to perform and enhancing community awareness and appreciation of the performing arts. SYPG works toward this by targeting excellence in stage performances, arts education, and youth-centered programming that professional artists facilitate.

The Executive Director is Taryn Grant. For more information, email sypg@sypgfoundation.org or call 217-553-4475.
