Springfield Youth Performance Group brings Little Mermaid to the stage

Springfield Youth Performance Group Foundation (SYPG) will perform Little Mermaid at The Grant Conservatory of Music and Dance in Springfield in June.

The hour-long performance, designed for children, includes music by Claude Debussy and choreography by SYPG youth program director Kristie Wilson. The storyline embraces Ariel’s philosophy, “My dreams just don’t have to stay my dreams.”

Little Mermaid is on June 8 at 1 pm, 3 pm and 6 pm. Tickets are $5 and available at sypgfoundation.org. Admission includes crafts at Ariel’s Under the Sea Pre-Show Party 30 minutes before each show.

Executive director Taryn Grant founded the non-profit in 2005. SYPG enriches lives through performing arts. It encourages and cultivates artistically talented youth by allowing them to perform, which enhances awareness and appreciation of performing arts. SYPG offers excellence in stage performances, arts education, and youth-centered programming facilitated by professional artists. Artistic director Elizabeth Cheney joins Taryn and Kristie on staff.
