Natalie Lowrey-Natalie Lowrey Photography

What inspired you to launch your business?

I love being creative with DIY, art, clothing, pictures, etc. You name it, and I have probably tried it. In 2020 I started making some baby items when we found out we were expecting, and I was having a blast. But we had a miscarriage, and I could not bring myself to continue making those things. We had a second a few months later, which resulted in surgery. I wasn't feeling like myself. My husband pushed me to be creative again, and my father-in-law gave me one of his old canon cameras (I believe it was 20 years old) and a few lenses to play around with as well. I had always loved photography. But the cost of starting the business, with all the equipment, was a little too much. After playing around with this camera and lenses, my husband saw potential. He pushed me to continue and find people willing to take their photos. I did, and the rest is history. I was having so much fun and learning so much with every shoot. I would stay up way too late to edit the session I just got home from out of pure excitement. I currently have a full-time career I worked very hard for, but I started this business to help express my more creative side.

What is your passion?

My passion is just being creative. That can be through fashion (which I also love), making things from homemade ornaments to macrame wall art, designing, and drawing. I thoroughly enjoy and love being creative.

How do you start your day?

I start my day with a cup of coffee and even more creamer. My husband usually brings it to me before he leaves for work, and I wake up my son and get ready to head to my full-time job (not my small business). I also tend to say good morning to our two dogs and cat that are usually in bed with me when I wake up.

Favorite local businesses?

Gypsy Soul is my favorite!! I have been shopping here since the store first opened. I love seeing just how much they have grown over the years. The owner and her children all feel like old friends when I go. We catch up on life, and I also get to find one-of-a-kind amazing clothes. It is a win-win.

What do you deem as success in business?

Being so excited and feeling privileged to do what I do is success.

What is your advice for business owners?

I am still learning as I go, but my only advice would be to keep going.
