Brooke Fetty B Line Bookkeeping

What inspired you to launch your business?

I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve been bookkeeping since I was about twelve years old. Raised by an entrepreneur, I spent my free time at our family business, and when there was nothing to do, Dad set me to work. I learned fast that tidy books are vital to a successful business. So, now I want to use my knowledge and skills to help fellow small business owners in Springfield, Illinois, whether they are starting out or fully established.

How do you start your day?

Mornings are so busy, as I am sure they are for most. I get myself ready, my son, and then we head out the door. My partner Joe and I will take our son to preschool and head off to work. Sometimes there’s even enough time for a coffee, local, of course.

Favorite local business?

Springfield has many great local businesses, from Luminary Kitchen & Provisions to Gypsy Soul and Curate to Bella Boutique

What do you deem as success in business?

I believe success comes when you can concentrate on the areas of your business you enjoy most. By outsourcing areas that take you away from the reason you launched your business in the first place, you will have time for those that bring you joy.

What is your advice for business owners?

It’s ok to put tasks down. If you can’t figure something out, take a step back for a day or two. You can return with fresh eyes or seek advice. The chances are you’ll return with a solution, whether that is you or someone else.
