Aissa Norris -1912 Barn
What inspired you to launch your own business?
My husband and I decided to start our business as we saw a need for couples and families to have a space to gather and celebrate special occasions which were out of the norm. Outdoor spaces to rent or retreat to were hard to find, and the 1912 Barn venue was born.
About what are you passionate?
I would say that we are most passionate about helping others and servicing those in our community. We have always enjoyed being active and social but with a purpose.
How do you start your day?
I start my day first thinking about how grateful I am for living in this beautiful place. Living in the country, you appreciate nature and the calm away from the city. I enjoy a cup of coffee, watch the birds, and reflect on the day’s tasks and the day begins.
Favorite local business to shop at:
I can’t say that we have a favorite local business. We try to shop local and keep our dollars in our community. We enjoy supporting other small businesses and networking to build communities.
What do you deem as success in business?
Running a successful business is not about finances for us. Of course, a business needs to be profitable, but being successful revolves around the relationships we build and a job well done. Helping others to connect brings us great joy.
What is your number one piece of advice for business owners?
Build a network of people you trust and can work together within a community. We bounce ideas off one another and gain a great deal of wisdom from those who have started a small business. We manage the challenges and celebrate the successes.
