Six questions with Rachel Hughes -Johnny & June

What inspired you to launch your business?

It has always been a dream of mine to own my shop. I've always wanted to do my own thing; I didn’t know what that looked like, though.

After moving back to IL, getting married, and having children, I knew children’s clothes is what I wanted to do. It’s always been difficult for me to find outfits I love for my kids. Being able to handpick everything has been amazing. I love helping mamas/ dads/gift-givers of all kinds to find the perfect piece for their little ones.

About what are you most passionate?

I love helping people. I love empowering people to go after the dream in their hearts. I’m all about being their biggest cheerleader. I’m passionate about that!

How do you start your day?

When it's not with a kick in the ribs from a little one that snuck into my bed, it's with some quiet time to breathe deep and start my day off with gratitude.

I can’t pick a favorite!

What do you deem as success in business?

Oh man, this is a hard one. I think there are so many things I could deem as “success." Personally, for my family, it’d be paying for Disney debt-free, completely from my business' profits. That might not sound like success to some, but I like small goals and big "whys." Disney World is my first goal. Giving my little ones a trip because of the success of my business sounds amazing. And a non-family monetary success would be a fully functioning shop with multiple employees and fully funding our charities. Being able to give back in a real way is the truest form of success!

What is your number one piece of advice for business owners?

Remember your “Why.”
