Casey Claypool -Docs Just Off 66
What inspired you to launch your business?
My desire and love of small towns, small businesses, and Illinois Route 66. Community revitalization and preserving history, becoming an influential small business owner, and promoting and leveraging Illinois Route 66 were all main drivers behind purchasing and renovating Docs in Girard.
What is your passion?
My passion is small towns, small businesses, and Illinois Route 66; these are fueled by a deep appreciation for community, entrepreneurial spirit, nostalgia, and history.
How do you start your day?
With morning prayer and reflection. This allows me to center myself spiritually and emotionally, providing a sense of peace and clarity before the busyness of the day begins. By connecting with my faith and inner self through prayer, I’ve set a positive tone for the rest of the day.
Favorite local businesses?
There is no way I could pick just one; however, the Apple Barn in Chatham, Alive on 66 at Motorheads, and Kennedy Sue are just a few of my favorites.
What do you deem as success in business?
Business success is multidimensional, and I define it in various ways. Achieving a balance between financial prosperity, customer relationships, employee well-being, and societal impact, while staying true to the core values and mission of Docs would be my view of success.
What is your number one piece of advice for business owners?
Take the risk. The only way to truly grow your business is to step outside your comfort zone and embrace the unknown. Every successful business owner has faced uncertainty and challenges along the way, but it's those who dare to take the risk who ultimately reap the greatest rewards.
